Papaya prints the conversation almost exactly the way it was. There are even stage directions like hits Takahashi with pillow and snorts disparagingly (Hiro’s declared favorite is ducks his head a little and looks up adorably, making us melt into a puddle).

Not much about the sofa pictures reminds Ryuu of exhausted puppies tangled up with each other. But that may be just because his mind automatically turns to different analogies when he sees sleepy Hiro sprawled out appealingly, shirt half off, collar crumpled in Ryuu’s fist.

It’s not one of those pictures that makes the front page, though. No, that honor is reserved for a moment Ryuu has no memory of at all. He and Hiro are sitting off to the side of the set, lighting equipment and stacked props visible in the background. Hiro’s holding out his cell phone; he was trying out a new phone game that day, wondering whether to buy it after the trial period ended. In the photo, Ryuu’s leaning over to see, one hand on Hiro’s thigh to steady himself.

The picture is taken from below, capturing their faces at an excellent angle. Even the lighting is good, bringing out his slight grin and Hiro’s artfully tousled hair and wide dark eyes. They look intent and relaxed… completely comfortable with each other.

They look good together, Ryuu thinks.
